Doug Stanton’s ‘Horse Soldiers’ headed for big screen

Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer have picked up film rights to Doug Stanton’s forthcoming novel ‘Horse Soldiers.’

The book follows a small band of Special Forces soldiers who secretly entered Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks.

They took the battle to the Taliban on horseback. Outnumbered many times over, they captured the strategically essential city of Mazar-i-Sharif.

However, during the surrender of six hundred Taliban troops, they are ambushed and have to fight for their lives within the walls of the city’s vast fortress.

Bruckheimer will produce.
