De Mornay to be a ‘Mother’

Rebecca De Mornay will be starring in the remake of the cult 1980 horror film “Mother’s Day,” with shooting to begin next week in Winnipeg.

The 1980 film was directed by Charles Kaufman, a brother of Troma Entertainment cofounder Lloyd Kaufman, who served as an associate producer for the film.

According to Variety, the cast includes Jamie King, Shawn Ashmore, Briana Evigan and Deborah Ann Woll.

Producers include Genre Co.’s Richard Saperstein and Brian Witten and Rat Entertainment’s Brett Ratner and Jay Stern. LightTower Entertainment is financing; Curt Leopardo, Jessie Rusu and Jon Zucker executive produce. Shara Kay is co-producing.

Darren Lynn Bousman is directing from Scott Milam’s script, which follows a family of sadistic hillbillies, led by their insane mother, who return to their former home and terrorize the new owners and their guests.
