Crystal Gayle to highlight Red Skelton Museum and Education Center benefit

Singer Crystal Gayle will perform at the Red Skelton Gala on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center in Red’s hometown of Vincennes, Indiana.

Crystal, who sang, “Don’t it Make My Brown Eyes Blue,” will be accompanied by her full touring band and will provide an evening of entertainment to benefit the completion of the Red Skelton Museum and Education Center.

The Red Skelton Museum and Education Center will serve the area of Knox County, Indiana.

Crystal herself is a “Hoosier,” as was Red, can’t think of a better way to return to her home state.

“I always enjoy coming back home again to Indiana,” says Crystal. “I grew up in Wabash loving Red Skelton and watching him perform on TV and in movies. It will be especially great to sing in the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center, and to work with the community of Vincennes to support the memory of this favorite son by creating the Red Skelton Museum.”

Red’s museum will house the nearly 4 million dollar collection of his life memorabilia gifted to the Red Skelton Museum Foundation Inc.

Crystal’s concert will be followed by catered reception to show off the under-construction Red Skelton Museum.

Crystal Gayle’s “Don’t it Make My Brown Eyes Blue” won her countless accolades, including a Grammy for Best Female Country Performance, and she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007.
