Critics’ Choice 2014 Awards Refreshing List of Noms, Plus Original Cocktails To Celebrate

ilana

The Critics’ Choice Awards are here and M&C is getting ready to head out to the Beverly Hilton Hotel with my fellow BTJA members to see which of our picks made the cut.

We love that the TCA Awards and the Critics’ Choice Awards offer a more interesting ( and deserving in our opinion) list of actors than the predictable Emmys year after year.

Especially thrilled that the hilarious Comedy Central “Broad City” made the list of nominees and Ilana Glazer was also included in the Best Comedy Actress category.

Also nominated, Sarah Baker for her impassioned female fat rant on FX’s “Louie”; Christopher Evan Welch for his brilliant portrayal of eccentric billionaire Peter Gregory on HBO’s “Silicon Valley.” Sadly he died of complications from lung cancer in December.

Also Emmy Rossum is getting some recognition for her Showtime “Shameless” Fiona. Hooray for transgendered actress Laverne Cox (Sophia) and for Kate Mulgrew (Red) and Uzo Aduba (Suzanne) in Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” snagging some nommy love.

Walton Goggins is up for both Justified (Best Supporting Actor) and Sons of Anarchy (Best Guest Performer) – how cool is that. “Sons” fans can dine on Maggie Siff (Tara) getting some love too.
