Coldplay and Duffy to rule the Brit Awards

Pop singer Duffy and rockers Coldplay look to have a good night at the Brit Awards with four nominations each – including best British album for Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” and Duffy’s “Rockferry.”

The Brit Awards are the British’s answer to the Grammy, and winners are mostly selected from a vote by industry members. Some of the award categories are chosen by the public through telephone and online votes.

Along with Coldplay and Duffy, artists nominated this year included Kanye West, Beyonce and Kings of Leon in international categories.

The awards ceremony will include live performances from U2 and Kings of Leon. The Pet Shop Boys are also scheduled to receive an award for outstanding contribution to music.
