Cocktails For Easter Brunch, Part Two: Southern Comfort Caramel A Sidewinder

Interested in a buttered popcorn flavored cocktail?

That’s the first impression we get when combining newcomer Southern Comfort Caramel with Sprite over ice. Weirdly compelling salty sweetness. More savory than you would imagine. A sidewinder of a spirit that is not at all expected.

For those unaware, Southern Comfort is an American whiskey-flavored liqueur first developed in 1874 by a New Orleans bartender.

One of the most significant new features to this new package is the unique icon on the neck and label proudly owning Southern Comfort’s position as a “category of one.” The new bottle shape draws from the brand’s heritage and wears the same fluted shoulders that drinkers recognize from previous entries. Caramel Comfort and the new Southern Comfort packaging are hitting shelves in the US beginning in early March. Caramel Comfort has a suggested retail price of $16.99 for a 55 Proof 750ml bottle.

Southern Comfort - Caramel Comfort Hi ResThe flavor of the moment is Caramel and Southern Comfort jumped on this trend with both feet, introducing Caramel Comfort as a new  flavored spirit that can be served in a variety of ways (including mixed with Sprite) for a refreshing, simple cocktail.

Monsters and Critics paired Southern Comfort Caramel with a classic salt-rimmed margarita and poured a shot “float style” on top. It was excellent. The lime and salt are terrific accompaniments to the butter caramel sweetness in this liqueur. Try it:
