Happy days for Chris Brown, as TMZ and other news outlets report he is a free man!
The 25-year-old singer was released from a Los Angeles County jail at 12:01 a.m. Monday, says L.A. Sheriff’s department.
Brown was incarcerated since mid-March for violating his probation stemming from his 2009 assault on Rihanna.
On May 9, L.A. Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin sentenced Brown to one year in jail; he received credit for 234 days of time already served in jail and court-ordered rehab, which 131 days to serve. Lucky for him that a number of factors were considered and officials gave the singer an early release.
Brown used Twitter to share his gratitude, “Humbled and Blessed…Back to the Music and the Fans…Thank you GOD.”
Brown’s probation is extended until Jan. 23, 2015.
He will be required to submit to random drug testing at least three times a week, participate in psychiatric counseling two times a week and attend outpatient therapy at least twice a week. He also must complete whatever remains of the 1,000 additional hours of community service he was given last August when his probation was revoked following a car accident. (Charges related to the crash were later dismissed.)
Brown reportedly is due back in court Aug. 13 for a progress and compliance check with the court.
