Busta gets busted and charged with assault in New York City

Rapper Busta Rhymes, who is currently heating up the charts with his album ‘The Big Bang,’ was arrested in New York City on Sunday and charged with assault.
Police have yet to release much details on what prompted Rhymes (whose real name is Trevor Smith) arrest and the reasons for the charge, but it is believed the assault and arrest happened about a week apart.

Detectives have been seeking an interview with the rapper as part of a continuing investigation into the February shooting death of one of Rhymes’ bodyguards Israel Ramirez. The bodyguard (29) was killed in Brooklyn in front of a music studio where Ryhmes was working on a music video. Rhymes and one of his bodyguards are also facing a lawsuit from a fan that claims the rapper and his bodyguard assaulted him after he tried to get the rapper’s autograph.

Rhymes released ‘The Big Bang’ (his seventh solo album) in June. The album features the rapper teaming up with a number of top music performers including Missy Elliott, Stevie Wonder, Kelis and  Will.I.Am.
