The D’Artigo sisters continue to kick demon butt while getting kicked in return as they struggle against stiff odds in their ongoing battle with Shadow Wing, a demon lord bent upon destroying Earth and Otherworld in Galenorn’s fourth book of the Otherworld series. If Shadow Wing manages to locate the spirit seals before the D’Artigo sisters, the world will be remade by his minions so it is imperative that they succeed but with new portals opening throughout the northwest, it’s impossible to guard them all.

When the unicorn prince shows up in Camille’s shop with an offer of assistance, the sisters realize they aren’t facing the war alone, welcome news in the face of stiff odds. Assistance comes in the form of a powerful artifact straight out of legend and Camille has been chosen to wield it but at the moment, she has several other concerns including Smokey’s claim on her. Smoky, a hunky dragon aided the sisters in an earlier battle and has a result of a bargain struck, Camille owes him a week of service. It comes as an unwelcome surprise when Smoky claims she is his mate, especially when Camille has already pledged herself to another.

Ancient, powerful forces are stirring and Camille finds herself the fulcrum that could well determine the fate of both worlds. Somehow, she must find the strength and wisdom to make the right decisions and survive against a cunning foe.

Galenorn has created a fantastical alternative world populated with a cast of strong, smart, capable women and the men they love along with a collection of vampires, werecreatures, goblins, demons, pixies and djinns to name a few. Fast paced with plenty of tension, sexual attractions and rock’em, sock’em action, this is a great addition to a fun series that keeps improving with each new title. Kim Harrison fans will want to check out this series if they haven’t already done so.
