A security breach and theft of her father’s violin from the family home begins a series of events that leaves Violynne questioning everything she thought she knew about her Aunt Madelyn and Einhart, the family butler. Violynne finds herself alone and floundering when her aunt is arrested for badmouthing the Arbiter, the self-important dictator of Lindos. With no idea who to trust Violynne knows it’s up to her to find out what really happened to her missing parents. Meanwhile the Arbiter, the Coil, an omnipotent life form who claims to have destroyed the Croon’s great cities and Nia, one of the supposedly vanished Croon are inordinately interested in getting their hands on Violynne. With the house security compromised and the Arbiter’s forces hunting her, Violynne has little option but to rely on her wits and embark on a trip to the same lost Croon city from which her parents vanished in a valiant effort to save herself and those she loves.
