From Monsters and Critics.com Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Book Reviews Book eight of the Nightside series finds private investigator John Taylor teamed up with Bettie Divine, a half-demon reporter for the Unnatural Inquirer, the news rag everyone loves to hate. The Inquirer paid a fortune to Pen Donavon for a DVD that is said to show there is life after death but before they can lay hands on it, both Donavon and the disk disappear. For a story this hot, the Inquirer has offered Taylor a cool one million pounds to trace and deliver the DVD to their office, but only if he agrees to work with Bettie. With so much on the line, there are plenty of other creatures on the trail as well, some who want nothing more then to destroy the disk and Taylor too. Naturally, nothing goes according to plan in the Nightside and this adventure is no exception as Taylor and Bettie soon discover. Green’s amusing addition to the dark, magic ridden world of the Nightside sees Taylor’s powers and reputation on the increase as he faces the Collector, Kid Cthulhu and the Removal Man to name a few. Bettie makes a good run for Taylor’s heart but he and Suzie Shooter are two of a kind, at least for now. © Copyright 2007 by monstersandcritics.com. This notice cannot be removed without permission. |
