Book Review: The Metatemporal Detective

Detective Sir Seaton Begg with his faithful sidekick Dr. Taffy Sinclair crosses swords with nemesis and distant relation Monsieur Zenith, an opium addicted, red-eyed albino in a disjointed series of time hopping heists, murders and strange encounters. The many Holmes parallels are hard to miss giving this homage to penny detective Sexton Blake a less then original feel as the two antagonists continue to meet in unlikely circumstances throughout the world. A soul-eating black blade and the Holy Grail are recurring themes in this collection that includes Texas’s own Masked Buckaroo, Hitler and assorted gentleman bandits in this slightly tongue-in-cheek take on the detective genre that fails to live up to its promise.
