They live ordinary lives, but they are extraordinary. They are the Offspring, children of a mysterious experiment gone awry-and they are in terrible danger. Nicholas Braden has an uncanny psychic talent for finding things-which is why he\'s been recruited for a covert government program designed to hunt down terrorists. While his work for a shady controller named Darkwell is leading him down some very questionable alleyways, it\'s ...more
Gifted with the ability to locate lost items and people, Nicholas Braden came on board with a government program run by the iron-willed Darkwell who kept a tight rein on every facet of his employees’ lives. After being contacted by the Rogues, Darkwell’s sworn enemies, Nicholas has begun questioning the Intel provided by Darkwell. Much of it may only be half-truths at best, outright lies at worst. It’s a situation that has Nicholas questioning the integrity of the program and triggers an earnest search into the circumstances surrounding his father’s death.
Darkwell’s assistant Olivia has been carefully, sometimes ruthlessly schooled into total obedience but she cannot deny her attraction to Nicholas. As the two risk Darkwell’s wraith by striking up a friendship, then courtship, Olivia like Nicholas begins to question everything she thought she knew even as she attempts to live in denial. As the stakes turn deadly, Nicholas and Olivia must decide whether to believe the stories Darkwell has fed them for years or accept the uncomfortable truths revealed by the Rogues and their own investigation.
Book three of the Offspring series finds Eric, Lucas and some other regulars continuing to seek answers and allies in their ongoing battle against Darkwell. The suspense and action remain steady throughout although the character development is a bit uneven. The subplots add reasonable depth to this emerging paranormal romance series featuring secret experiments, psychic ability and plenty of agendas. This series is one to watch.
