In the holy city of Othir, treachery and corruption lurk at the end of every street, just the place for a freelance assassin with no loyalties and few scruples.Caim makes his living on the edge of a blade, but when a routine job goes south, he is thrust into the middle of an insidious plot. Pitted against crooked lawmen, rival killers, and sorcery from the Other Side, his only allies ...more
Assassin for hire Caim has made a reputation for himself in the politically rife city of Othir. Caim’s latest job appeared to be a straightforward, uncomplicated kill but the situation quickly deteriorating leaving him caught in the midst of a dark plot that could forever change the political landscape of Othir and not in a good way. Equally caught was Josephine, the uptight, over-indulged daughter of Caim’s latest victim and Kit, an interestingly attired, mercurially tempered shadow spirit only Caim can see.
Othir’s seedy alleyways and halls of power serve as the backdrop for this bid for power spearheaded by Leviticus who is not without his own unusual paranormal abilities and allies. To defeat the deadly uprising Caim will have to embrace the power he has spent a lifetime denying and become the Shadow’s Son. Brisk pacing combines with liberal swordplay, politics, dark plots and mischievous spirits to make for an entertaining if unoriginal action tale that promises good things to come.
