A new chapter in the New York Times bestselling Morganville Vampires saga. Vampire musician Michael Glass has attracted the attention of a big- time producer who wants to cut a demo and play some gigs-which means Michael will have to enter the human world. For this, he\'s been assigned escorts that include both a dangerous immortal as well as Michael\'s all-too-human friends. And with that mix of personalities, ...more
The Glass House Gang of the popular Morganville Vampires series has obtained the unattainable in the form of passes allowing Claire, Shane and Eve to accompany Michael to Dallas where he hopes to broker a significant music contract. Their thrill at finally getting a temporarily escape from the confines of Morganville was tempered by the condition that Oliver, an older, gruff vampire come along as chaperon. On route to Dallas Oliver had some private business in the backwater town of Durram, Texas which led to a run-in with the local good old boys bent on mayhem. Things just go downhill from there.
Before too long, what should have been a wonderful outing away from home turned into a nightmare with Claire’s latest nemesis, the vampire Morley at the helm of a new revolt. Fallout from Bishop continues in the form of a new nest of infected vampires and somehow the gang must keep themselves alive long enough to figure out what’s really going on and how to put things right while still getting Michael to his appointment.
The slow start allows Claire to sort out her relationship to her parents and realize that while she has grown into a different person, the love and concern of family remain strong. Once the action starts rolling it continues gaining momentum to a strong climax that sets up plenty of material for further additions to this entertaining series.
