Twenty three year old Sister Evangeline lived and took her vows with the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, it was really the only home she had since being left there as a child by her father. Assigned to work in the St. Rose library, Evangeline was answering correspondence when a letter led to the discovery of a tie between the Convent and Abigail Rockefeller. As Evangeline dug into old records, she discovered Angels and Nephilim, the hybrid children of angels and humans still roam the earth. Engaged in a power struggle, assorted supernatural creatures and a handful of dedicated angel scholars also known as angelologists, search for pieces of an ancient art treasure secreted away during World War II.
The lyre will allow the Nephilim to rule humanity and they will do anything to gain control of it. Evangeline and her grandmother Gabriella are all that stand in their way but the cost of success will be more then the innocent Sister could have imagined as the lure of power sings through her bones.
Trussoni has visualized an imaginative, intricately plotted tale that maintains a brisk pace throughout. The characters and dialog draw readers in from the very first chapter as history, religion, mythical creatures and an epic struggle play out from New York to Paris to the mountains of Bulgaria. Evangeline and Gabriella are marvelous heroines, perfect foils for the sadistic antagonist that shadows them.
