The human and vampire residents of Morganville, Texas are busy coming to terms with a more equal relationship then was possible under Bishop’s rule. Bishop, the former ruling vampire was evil personified and thought of humans as little more then playthings to be subjugated with an iron fist. Amelie, the new vampire leader has granted humans new rights but without the risk of immediate and fatal retribution, some humans are turning into bigger monsters then the vampires. Oliver, Morley as well as some other vampires believe Amelie is weak and seek to overthrow her.
As Claire Danvers, her boyfriend Shane and best friends Eve and Michael adjust to the changes, trouble appears in the form of Shane’s old girlfriend, Kim. Claire takes an immediate dislike to Kim who seems to possess a knack for attracting loyal followers like bees to honey. As the town production of A Streetcar Named Desire starts up, Kim goes missing. Although Claire despises Kim, she throws herself into the search along with Shane, Eve and Michael. They soon discover Kim was deeply involved in a film project that could be more dangerous then anything they could have imagined.
Book seven of the Morganville Vampire series won’t disappoint readers as Claire and her friends find themselves in the middle of a potential catastrophe wrought by a publicity seeking filmmaker. The results will change Claire and her friend’s role within the community as well as having some serious, long-term consequences for all of Morganville. Caine has left plenty of room to develop the series in new directions.
