Isolated from the rest of the universe for generations due in part to its remoteness, Harmony and its colony planets have been left alone to mind their own affairs. Laudae Sissy, Harmony痴 High Priestess and her lover Confederated Star System Agent Jake realize its only a matter of time before assorted governments throughout the universe start venturing into Harmony space. In a sort of preemptive move the pair travel to Labyrinthe VII, better known to most as The First Contact Caf, in an effort to negotiate diplomatic relations between the Harmony Empire and other governments.
The Harmony Empire holds a fortune in Badger Medal, a material used to build starships that the CSS will do anything to control. Naturally, the Harmony Empire wants a fair price for it and parties other then the CSS are interested in getting a share. After Sissy survives an assassination attempt, she and Jake realize their efforts for a peaceful negotiation may prove futile but the stakes are raised when an alien ship crashes into the space station痴 Harmony wing. Keeping Sissy and himself safe will take every bit of Jake痴 considerable ability to multitask as he deals with an assortment of spies, a serial killer, private agendas and more.
Bentley痴 sequel to Harmony offers a seat of the pants, fast-paced space opera filled with an assortment of interesting characters and a satisfying storyline that doesn稚 disappoint. Jake comes off as a convincing hero while Sissy manages to screw up her courage and wade into the thick of things in an attempt do the right thing for Harmony and herself.
