Bran, leader of the North American werewolves finally agreed to allow his son Charles Cornick and new wife Anna, to act in his place at the upcoming Seattle summit meeting. The North American werewolves are preparing to reveal their presence to the general population, a move bitterly opposed by the European alpha male. When an alpha werewolf and outspoken opponent to Bran’s plan is found dead, Charles becomes an immediate suspect and if found guilty, faces the death sentence.
Things get serious when vampires drawing upon pack magic, a feat they should not be capable of, attack Anna. Meanwhile, ancient figures including the Lady of the Lake, resurface casting deadly spells in an elaborate all or nothing power play. Clearly, there is plenty of evil afoot and it will take all the Pack’s considerable strength to overcome their many adversaries.
A rare Omega wolf, Anna was subjected to abuse by her former pack leader for years before being rescued, then mated to Charles. Many mistakenly perceive Anna as being weak yet her unusual strengths give her advantages, especially when the life of her mate is at stake. Briggs second book of the Alpha and Omega series stretches the limits of credibility with the unlikely combination of Arthurian characters, vampires and modern werewolf politics. It’s an entertaining story that Briggs fans will enjoy but a real stretch, even for the paranormal genre.
