Working as a magic wielding druidess for the D.C. SWAT, Janice Crawford and the team she worked with were prepared for a typical drug lab takedown but bad Intel led to one death and her own, near fatal shooting. Between her superiors trying to pin the blame on her and another attempt on her life, Janice has reason to believe there is more at stake then a botched drug raid.
With the capable assistance of her personal aid and brownie Saffin Corril, Fey Guild public relations director Laura Blackstone is busy with the upcoming exhibition at the National Archives. She had thought coordinating programs and rubbing elbows with senators was demanding but that’s nothing compared to the challenges ahead.
As an intelligence agency operative, Mariel Tate thinks nothing of using her good looks to achieve her goal, whether it’s tracking terrorists or ferreting out information. When Mariel uncovers a thread connecting the botched drug raid and the upcoming Archives exhibit, Laura’s carefully constructed world begins to unravel. A master at crafting her druid magic into alternative identities, Laura, Mariel and Janice are one and the same person. Living three separate identities, it is little wonder Laura is beginning to wonder who and what she really is but with impending disaster waiting in the wings, now is not the time for an identity crisis.
More complex then his previous Connor Grey titles, this tangle of multiple identities can get a bit confusing although the overall storyline is inventive and strong. Laura in all her guises is a tough, resilient character who isn’t afraid to ask for help when she gets in over her head. It’s fun watching Saffin turn into much more then your typical office assistant and her powers of observation prove equal to keeping up Laura’s many disguises. This is a series worth watching.
