Garnet Lacey was understandably nervous about introducing her straight-laced parents to Sebastian, her handsome vampire fiancé but things went from bad to worse with the arrival of Sebastian’s ex-wife Tereza. Because Sebastian gained vampiric powers through alchemy instead of blood, his attempt to save Tereza from consumption years earlier yielded a creature more akin to a raving zombie then a vampire. Sebastian’s spoiled son Matyas despises Garnet and enjoys tormenting his father by periodically digging Tereza up from her resting place. Tereza has cursed Garnet and is determined no one else will have Sebastian. Vatican witch hunters are crashing the wedding rehearsal and Garnet is having difficulty keeping the Goddess Lilith under control, is it any wonder this wedding is headed for trouble.
Bright, funny and reminiscent of the works of Katie MacAlister or Mary Janice Davidson, this delivers all bridezilla’s worst nightmares. Sebastian comes off as an amazingly understanding vampire attempting to make the best of a bad situation while Garnet eventually learns that sometimes one simply has to just roll with the punches. This is a bit different from previous titles in the series as the focus is more on the dynamics between Sebastian and Matyas, Garnet and her family, friends, Lilith and Athena rather then a real “who-done-it” but still delightful.
