After narrowly averting global disaster in A Kiss Before the Apocalypse , Remy Chandler is trying to build enough enthusiasm to return to work as a private investigator, a task made difficult by the recent death of his beloved wife Madeline. Remy is not your typical PI as Mulvehill, his friend in the Boston police force discovered. The fight between Lucifer Morningstar and his many followers vs. the forces of Heaven left angels on both sides broken mentally and physically. Remy renounced his place as an angel of the host Seraphim but that didnt keep Heaven from expecting his assistance.
The Nomads, an enigmatic group of angels who refused to take sides during the conflict are busy trying to locate the same stolen artifacts Remy was hired to find. Taken from an eccentric millionaires private vault, the artifacts are none other then the long lost weapons collectively known as the Pitiless. Should those weapons fall into the wrong hands, all Hell could break loose and if it does, nothing in Heaven or on Earth will ever be the same.
Equal measures heartbreaking and honorable, Sniegoski has created a warm, genuine character struggling with his identity and destiny. Although this innovative urban noir draws heavily on Christian beliefs, the authors deft touch keeps it from being preachy. The fast pace, gratifying character development and a sufficiently complex plot to hold your interest from start to finish make this one a winner.
