As a bioengineered GI, Cassandra Kresnov was expected to be nothing more then a solder, no one thought a mere GI, no matter how advanced would choose to leave the League and build a life for herself. In this sequel to Crossover, Sandy is attempting to fit into life in Tanusha, the capital city of Callay and despite having saved the president’s life and being a member of an elite SWAT security team, many people are uncomfortable with the very thought of a sentient android. The League and the Federation are involved in a power struggle with nothing less the planet’s future at stake, placing Sandy in a precarious situation. With her enhancements, many politicians see her as something to be mistrusted or feared and now with a League delegation in Tanusha, Sandy must be ever watchful as it is possible the League will attempt to get her back.
At every turn, in every crisis, Sandy finds herself under intense scrutiny by all sides making it difficult to know whom to trust. When Ari and Ayako, members of a covert special ops team offer their assistance, Sandy is more then a little skeptical. As a series of terrorist and politically motivated personal attacks make life ever more difficult, she has to take a chance and along the way discovers what it is to belong. The seat-of-the-pants climax is satisfying while setting up the next installment. Full of political intrigue, personal revelations and rapid-fire action, this is sci-fi at its best. The plot is complex, yet it is the personal issues that rise to the forefront and force readers to examine what makes one truly human.
