Stuntwoman Dawn Madison is nobody’s fool, more or less self-raised after her actress mother’s untimely death she is strong, capable and independent. She’s had to be as her father’s profession as a private investigator frequently left her on her own for extended periods of time. To say her and her father have issues is to understate the case yet when he turns up missing, his employer doesn’t hesitate to contact Dawn, seeking her assistance in tracking him down. What she discovered on her first night in Los Angeles has the potential to change her life forever, but only if she survives. Then there is her father’s strange boss, a man nobody gets to see, he is just a voice commanding his employees and strange friends to do his bidding, a voice capable of giving great pleasure as well.
Dr. Eternity is a Soul Taker, he has long waited for the proper time to set his plans in motion and the arrival Eva Claremont’s daughter may just herald an end to that long wait. Although Dawn is supposed to be tracking down what happened to her missing father, that becomes a minor plot point as the main plot develops and the different antagonists are defined. What develops promises to be an interesting take on Hollywood’s “finest” as they seek a way to retain their youth and beauty and hence their fame no matter what the consequences. This first of a trilogy features plenty of action, intrigue and interesting, if sometimes shadowy characters that put a slightly different twist to the classic vampire tale. The several loose ends will likely get tidied up in the next installment to the Vampire Babylon trilogy.
