Lexander and Marja return in this follow-up of “To Serve and Submit”, pitting them against the masters of pleasure houses throughout the world. Marja is a rare creature, a true submissive whose pure nature won the heart of Lexander, her former master who has sworn to free all pleasure slaves as atonement for his many sins although by doing so, he has set himself up as a renegade that will be hunted to death by the other masters. After destroying the masters of Vidaris the two tackle the sadistic and cruel Ukerald, master of Becksbury. To do so, Marja must once again become a pleasure slave although it is a role that will place her life in jeopardy. Unwilling to see his beloved Marja endure more pain and degradation, Lexander arranges for her safe care never dreaming she would have the determination and strength of will to forge ahead with their plans without him. For her part, Marja is driven to see all the slaves freed, even if it costs her the love of her life, freedom is worth any sacrifice.
This unusual fantasy uses elements of Norse and vampiric mythologies to create a very different kind of tale where even the least slave can have a profound impact upon world affairs. Plenty of gratuitous sex and no small amount of warfare serve to make for a fast, light read while leaving one to wonder how someone as submissive as Marja could take the initiative to become the driving force that holds a motley band of conspirators together.
