Book Review: The Templar, The Queen and Her Lover: A Knights Templar Mystery by Michael Jecks

Queen Isabella has been sent to France to negotiate peace with the French king.  Baldwin and Simon are sent  as part of her retinue to ensure her safety. Quickly it becomes clear that there is a murderer present.

A servant is murdered - and Baldwin's dagger lies next to the body. Baldwin struggles to prove his innocence, even as more murders take place. Intrigue upon intrigue surrounds the Queen's party - and can she really sway her brother, the French
king?

Old emnities start to surface; made worse by the presence of the rebel Mortimer at the French court.  To make matters worse, Baldwin faces the ever present danger that he will be revealed as a former Templar -  which would almost certainly result in his death.

Can he and Simon survive unscathed?  A well paced novel, forming part of Jeck's long running series  of historical mysteries starring Baldwin and Simon. A good story, ideal for times when you just want to curl up with a good story and forget the world around you.
