Absolutely ridiculous. Totally feeds into our society's obsession with 'quick fix' weight loss and finding our happiness/fulfillment from the outside instead of from the inside first. Very one dimensional. The whole program... even beyond 6 days doesn't embrace the whole picture of who we are... just the physical component. It says NOTHING about the emotional and psychological issues that often come with growing overweight in the first place as well as the issues that come up when we begin a program to 'lose' it. Why do people get to a point of weight loss and then 'fall off the wagon'? Not often because of lack of will power or discipline, rather because there are those psychological issues that don't allow us to move further unless they are addressed.

Yes, if you exercise aerobically for an hour every single day and restrict your diet to the point he suggests, who wouldn't lose weight (water!)? And it doesn't have to be at 65% or less... calories in vs. calories out. Higher intensity = more calories burned... so if you love to do spinning or kickboxing or any of those exercises Michael Thurmond 'forbids', keep doing them! Part of maintaining a journey of life-long fitness is ENJOYING the activities you choose!!! Again, it's more quality of life here than just walking on a treadmill at 65% for 1 hour a day... and restricting your diet!

This book and program is a crock. He claims to have the 'answer' that is full of lots of half truths. Again, very one dimensional. No big surprises here.

True fulfillment and happiness come from the inside out... not the other way around. When we begin to live our lives in balance, our bodies will naturally transform and reflect our inner transformation!

Bottomline? Eat sensibly (granted many need to learn what this means) and get out and move everyday! Enjoy life!

Not as easy as he claims!Jun 14th, 2005 - 19:14:27

This diet is not easy at all. I only have 10 or 15 pounds to lose but I couldn't stick with this for more than 2 days! I had to drink so much water that I was in the bathroom every half hour. No salt, no sugar, and no dairy products...yikes. The sugar was no problem- the no dairy is what killed me.

My main complaint is that this is so extreme (all centered around expelling water from you body) that the minute you go back to eating regularly it's all going to come back. Just not worth it.
