Touch & Go – Book Review

#1 New York Times bestseller Lisa Gardner, author of Catch Me and Love You More, returns with a heart-thumping thriller about what lurks behind the facade of a perfect family. This is my family: Vanished without a trace… Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life that looks good in the pages of a glossy magazine. A beautiful fifteen-year ...more
Definitely one of her best books so far. A wealthy family of three are kidnapped from their exclusive Boston home. Private investigator, Tess Leoni is retained by their company to find out why the family has been taken - and to see if she can get them back alive. As soon as she starts digging, it becomes clear that nothing is quite what it seems.
Why is the owner of the company so reluctant to allow any profit share? Why has he ensured that everything - including the family home and cars - are owned by the company? The wife and child have nothing. Yet he has been kidnapped along with his wife and child. Scenes of the kidnapped family held prisoner and forced to wear prison jumpsuits are intermixed with scenes of the investigators seeking answers.
As the plot progresses it becomes clear to everyone that the situation is far more complex than anyone could have believed at the beginning - and there are definitely surprises in store. The tension throughout is palpable, and you just have to carry on reading to find out what happens next. I could not put it down. A really gripping story and a real page turner.
