The Bumper Book for the Loo – Book Review
By Angela Youngman Oct 29, 2012, 17:42 GMT

Weird but true stories, inexplicable facts and figures, plus hilarious April Fools Day jokes which successfully fooled large numbers of people are just a few of the things in this collection of miscellaneous trivia.
It is a book for dipping into whenever you have just a few minutes to spare, or are looking for that spellbinding fact which will astonish everyone.
For example, did you know that the first alarm clock could only ring at 4am? In the 1600's thermometers were filled with brandy instead of mercury and that the French poodle actually came from Germany? Where in the world are Tubbercurry, Police, Mutters, Pis Pis and No Guts Captain?
Then there are the signs that can be read more than one way such as Gents Trousers Slashed (seen in an American drapers shop) or in an American Hospital the words Guard Dogs Operating! This is a book guaranteed to raise a smile and a giggle.
