By Angela Youngman May 27, 2011, 1:40 GMT

Scorpia has dogged Alex Rider for most of his life. They killed his parents, they did their best to con Alex into turning traitor, and they just keep coming back with more power. Now the world\'s most dangerous terrorist organization is playing with fire in the world\'s most combustible land: the Middle East. No one knows Scorpia like Alex. And no one knows how best to get to Alex like ...more
This is an incredible final story in the Alex Rider series. It pulls together themes and villains from several earlier books, reuniting old foes keen to have their revenge on the teenage hero.
An attempt is made to frame the teenage superspy, forcing his employers to bring him back into action this time in Cairo's City of the Dead.
Persuaded to take on just one more mission, Alex Rider joins the exclusive Cairo College as a day boy. Accompanied by Jack Starbright, he is quickly pulled into the many underlying conflicts. Who is friend and who is enemy? Not everyone can survive the final impact. As always the pace is fast and furious, sweeping the reader along.
This is definitely one of Horowitz's best stories to date, and a worthy ending to this series.
