The first outing for Nick Heller, private investigator - and I look forward to more. It is a riveting, compulsive read which grabs your attention from the very first page. A night out with her husband does not turn out as expected for Lauren Heller - she is attacked and ends up in hospital, her husband missing.
Her teenage son seeks the help of his uncle: Nick Heller, a private investigator with a corporate security firm. Despite being estranged from his brother, Nick always puts family first. As someone who never takes no for an answer, and who is relentless in his pursuit of the truth; Nick's skills are much needed to solve the mystery.
But - just what is the mystery? As Nick starts to dig, nothing seems to quite match up. Who is telling him the truth? Ultimately it is Nick's job and life at stake. Corporate skullduggery, missing US government funds and mercenaries with a lot to lose make the situation even more complex. Is Nick's brother all that he seems?
A gripping and very believable tale written by someone who knows what he is talking about. Finder used to work for the CIA and the effects of this background can be clearly seen in his writing.
