The second in a series of Oscar Wilde murder mysteries. London 1892 and Oscar Wilde is hosting a supper party at his club. Guests include Bram Stoker and Arthur Conan Doyle. A game is played among those present - Murder.
Each person present has to state one person they would like to murder and why. It seems to be just a game to while away the hours - but soon afterwards people begin to die. One by one the fourteen 'victims' chosen by the dinner guests die in extremely suspicious (and at times highly dramatic) circumstances.
Oscar soon becomes worried - after all his name came up on the list of potential victims. In a race against time, Oscar and his friends hunt for the killer who is making their party game reality. An interesting and unusual plot line.
Quite entertaining in its insights into fin-de-siecle London life, as well as the motley collection of characters that surrounded Oscar Wilde.
At times the pace could be a bit faster, but overall quite a readable novel which will be enjoyed by anyone who likes history mysteries.
