A story crossing major time periods linking together the story of Abraham with Nazi Germany and modern day Iraq. A female archeologist has been searching for an elusive treasure - tablets of clay on which were recorded the words of Abraham by a young scribe.
Having found them on the eve of the American invasion of Iraq, it is a race against time to excavate. Unfortunately, there are people trying to prevent the excavation. There are also people intent on killing her grandfather and herself.
Secrets hidden in her grandfather's past have created some implacable enemies - and you cannot help but sympathise with them. Who is friend and who is enemy? Political rivalries, corruption, bribery and long hidden secrets all have a part to play. This is a massive blockbuster of over 600 pages, which really requires you to concentrate all the way through.
It is not easy reading, but it does become compulsive reading. The story flicks back and forth between the differing stories. Without warning you suddenly find yourself moving from one period to another. Initially this can be a bit confusing, but it is worth continuing as the story does become quite engrossing.
