Book Review: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Vintage) by Stieg Larsson

A hefty doorstop of a book containing over 500 pages - but don't be off put by its size. It is actually a very good book indeed. Mikael Blomkivist is a financial journalist who has been caught up in a messy court case leaving him facing a period of imprisonment.

His struggling magazine is saved by an offer from the Vanger Corporation - but Mikael has to commit himself to a year working for Henrik Vanger. Ostensibly Mikael is working on a business history - in reality he is investigating the disappearance of Harriet Vanger who went missing forty years ago during a family gathering. Her body was never found and Henrik fears that someone in his family murdered her. Mikael's interest steadily grows as he starts delving deeper and deeper into the mysteries that surround the Vanger clan. Helped by a genius computer hacker suffering from Aspergers syndrome, the net slowly tightens on the truth.
