Book Review: Solar Gardening by by Leandre Poisson and Gretchen Vogel Poisson
By Angela Youngman Nov 19, 2008, 17:49 GMT

Any kitchen gardener looking for innovative ways to expand the growing period will find this book of interest. The authors show how they have stretched their gardening season in one of the coolest areas of America across a twelve month period without burning any fossil fuels or making massive investments in equipment.
Anyone with reasonable DIY skills will be able to follow their instructions for making solar tunnels or mini-greenhouses. Suggestions and instructions are given for a variety of solar appliances that can be constructed in the garden.
Advice is given on crops which will thrive in the coldest and hottest months of the year without having to use artificial heating or cooling systems. A very practical book, one
which can be used as reference time and time again.
