Returning from a midnight barbeque, a group of school boys are horrified to find their housemaster, Maurice Tyson dead on the floor of the dormitory with his thoat slit. Then a boy disappears - is there any link?
The story gets more complex still when Sir Neville Randler, who had formerly lived in the castle now occupied by the school, is also found with his throat cut. Superintendent Denis Lennon and Sergeant Molly Power of the Irish Police have their work cut out trying to find answers.
The story starts off well, and there is a really good absorbing ending. Unfortunately the bit in the middle lacks pace and stimulus - I felt my attention drifting.
Fortunately I persevered, since the ending is very unexpected and some intriguing twists in the tale.
