From Monsters and Critics.com Non-Fiction Book Reviews Beginning with a heartfelt introduction by granddaughter Amanda Erlinger who invites readers to view the photo album as pictures of a grandpa rather then a superstar, this collection provides an intimate look at the man behind the legend. The photos, several in black and white, are arranged in chronological order and divided into four chapters spanning from 1915-1998. The single line captions are fleshed out with sidebars offering remembrances from friends, family and Frank himself covering everything from his love of dogs to the impact his mentoring had on other performers. The multiple formally staged photos are interspersed with a handful of candid family shots and it is these that best convey a sense of the man as he plays on a snow saucer, admires a model train, bicycles backstage or dandles a grandchild on his knees. Sinatra fans will want to add this warm volume to their Holiday wish list.
