From Monsters and Critics.com Books News Go If You think It Your Duty is the title of a book by Andrea R. Foroughi that uncovers the Civil War through letters. The AP describes the book as, “The letters here are less about the war than about the hopes and concerns of a man who fought it and his wife waiting back home in Nininger, then and now a small town in Minnesota.” Published by the Minnesota Historical Society Press, the AP article goes into some bit of detail regarding what exactly those letters entailed. The AP notes that the book is specifically designed for, “those who want a different window on the war.” The letters tell the story of a married couple who was forced to separate because of the war, and according to the book description this separation “challenged their commitment to the war and to each other. These poignant letters provided them a space to voice their fear for and frustration with each other, and they now provide readers with a window into one couple’s Civil War.” Click here to read the full AP review.
