From Monsters and Critics.com Books News David and Amy Goodman have written a book called, Standing Up to the Madness: Ordinary Heroes in Extraordinary Times. The AP has said, “siblings Amy Goodman and David Goodman introduce us to ordinary folks who successfully stood up to the system. The point is to inspire readers who might have been afraid to show courage, and to reassure them that resistance need not be futile.” Yet the reviewer also noted the stories will leave one “empty”. “Taken in a microcosm, the Goodmans' stories do create some sense of optimism, and Americans who love to root for underdogs will savor the successes of the "little guys." But for those looking for a script toward greater change, "Standing Up to the Madness" may leave them wanting,” the AP said. According to the book description, “In communities around the United States, courageous individuals have taken leaps of faith to stop the madness. They could only hope that if they led, others would follow. That is how movements are born. What begins as one, eventually becomes many. In that tradition, the authors have included the ways in which any individual can take action and effect change.” Hyperion is the publisher. Click here to read more. Or just rent the film Serpico.
