![]() |
As reported last month the scam involved 'phishing' for credit card details by offering fans a chance to own a copy of the forthcoming "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" in electronic format.
On her official Web site the author said: "Please, please protect yourselves, your computers and your credit cards and do not fall for these scams,"
"I would bet the original manuscript of 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' itself that this will not be the last attempt to con HP fans before publication of the book."
"The only genuine copies of Harry Potter remain the authorized traditional book or audio tapes/cassettes/CDs distributed through my publishers."
The novel goes on sale July 16, no electronic versions have been licensed.
