Brazil to be guest of honour at 2013 Frankfurt Book Fair

   Berlin - Brazil is to be the guest of honour at the 2013 Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany, organisers said Wednesday.

   The annual fair, the world's biggest congress of book publishers, showcases one nation every year, attracting additional German media coverage and book reviews of that nation's literature.

Guests of honour, in return, put on theatrical shows and a special exhibition, which require three years of advanced planning.

   The book fair company said in Frankfurt that Brazilian Culture Minister Juca Ferreira will sign a memorandum of understanding this week in Brasilia.

Brazil had previously been the guest of honour in 1994.

Argentina will be the guest of honour at this year's fair in October.
