The National Book Award winner Denis Johnson has a new book out, titled Nobody Move.”
His NBA winning “Tree of Smoke” has gathered a mixed bag of reviews on Amazon, but according to the NYT: “Denis Johnson — by far one of our best writers — has written what might seem like a side step: a short, tight crime noir, produced under deadline as a serial for Playboy magazine.”
PW notes: “With its crackling dialogue and mercilessly bleak worldview, this stark and darkly funny chronicle of a four-way race to the bottom is a testament to Johnson's sublime sympathy for lowlifes.”
The NYT reviewer also notes that this recent book: “is a Warhol soup can, a flinty, bright piece of pop art meant to be instantly understood and enjoyed.”
