"Frontier Medicine: From the Atlantic to the Pacific, 1492-1941" is the latest title by David Dary.
According to the NYT: “Mr. Dary, who has previously written books about the Oregon and Santa Fe Trails, has won two Wrangler Awards from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. (Clearly, Western historians compete for manlier-sounding prizes than their Eastern counterparts do.) The term “wrangler” sums up Mr. Dary’s approach. He has gathered an enormous amount of material — from journals, letters, diaries, newspapers and a host of other sources — and heaved it all onto the page without a great deal of fuss.”
