The AP notes that: “A lawsuit involving the three surviving children of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King is threatening to derail a $1.4 million deal for a book on their mother.”
The article goes into some detail regarding payments and numbers, but why is this happening?
The article states:
“The siblings are feuding over whether the documents should be turned over. Bernice King and Martin Luther King III maintain that their mother no longer wanted to work with Reynolds on the book. They are asking that the documents be distributed among Coretta Scott King's heirs and not given to the publisher.”
Coretta Scott King died in 2006, and so the decision is now left to the lawsuit.
The relationships among the siblings have become stressed, it appears. If you’d like to read more in depth the details of this feud, please do so courtesy of the AP here.
