Encyclopedia is theft, Rowling claims

The AP has yet another article involving Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling - Pride of Britain Awards 2007 - Arrivals - The London Studios - London, England © Solarpix / PR PhotosIn the article, Rowling told the court about her struggles in 1991 as a single mother on welfare, unsure if she should spend her money on typewriter ribbon or food. “Rowling claims the book is nothing more than a rearrangement of her own material and told the judge it copied so much of her work that it amounted to plagiarism,” the article notes. She then claimed that Vander Ark, the author of the encyclopedia, showed that he did not fully understand Harry Potter and “There are incorrect translations, there are incorrect etymologies and there are places where Mr. Vander Ark quite literally has not understood the books," Rowling said.The article also notes that Rowling “now has second thoughts” about fan websites.
