I sure am. (And no it’s not because I’m “jealous” since I happen to look better in jeans).

But USA Today has another article about Oprah Winfrey bringing her recent book club pick, Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth “to the classroom” the article notes.

Here is what Winfrey calls the book: “a wake-up call for the entire planet, one reader at a time. It helps us to distance ourselves from our egos, which, of course, we all have, and to open ourselves to a higher self, which he calls consciousness. It helps us to stop creating our own suffering and obsessing over the past and what the future might be, and to put ourselves in the now."

Funny that Oprah Winfrey should be the one talking about egos.

It is also refreshing (and quite entertaining) to skim through the many negative comments left by USA Today readers. Some have called her a “cartoon character” others a “cult leader” and some just wish she would go away.

Read more about this New Age psychobabble here and have youself a chuckle.

It's funny when people put down Oprah, for what? Promoting peace and living in the now without the bullshit of the past. Oh yeah, she's a horrible person. LOL She should be promoting killing and war like our government. OR mabe screwing people over on gas and food like the corporations. Oh yeah, pick on Oprah, she's the problem. LMAO.

Oprah: Promoter of QuackeryApr 10th, 2008 - 17:14:58

Oprah *is* a horrible, unethical person.

She promotes questionable medical practices, such as energy healing.

She promotes New Age magical thinking.

She promotes questionable practitioners, including Deepak Chopra, Andrew Weil and Philip McGraw.

When she created her school in South Africa, she made the facilities unnecessarily lavish. In doing this, she helped only 350 students. Had she built facilities that were more appropriate, she could have helped many, many more South Africans. South Africa does not need Oprah to support this sort of classism.

Those who sponsor Oprah knowing that she has made the silly New Age mainstream and that she has promoted medical quacks, should be ashamed. Those who air Oprah's show are as guilty of promoting quackery as Oprah is. Had station managers and owners criticized Oprah for promoting dangerous practices and then, if she continued doing this, yanked her off the air, Oprah could have been reined-in. The station managers and owners have let the evil genie of Oprah out of the bottle and it's now impossible to stuff her back in.
