The AP reports that Andrew Morton, the author of Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography has been accused of making ‘false statements’ and ‘vicious lies’ to boost his book sales.
According to a statement told to the AP by Cruise’s lawyer, Bertram Fields, Fields claimed that Morton’s new book is not only “loaded with false statements" but also that Morton should “be ashamed of himself for telling such vicious lies about a child to hype sales of his book,” according to the article.
One of the points the article notes is that in the new Tom Cruise bio, “also says that some Scientologists believe that Cruise's daughter Suri was conceived using frozen sperm from Scientology founder and science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard,” according to the AP.
The biography is published by St. Martin’s Press.
The article has a somewhat lengthy discussion with Morton with the AP about his subject, which you can read about here.
