Harry Potter Book of the Year?

USA Today has noted that the final Harry Potter book is ‘Book of the Year’. In reading the article, the reason seems to be due to all the hoopla involved. The number of sales (11.5 million copies sold in the 1st ten days in July the article notes) and also the whole curiosity of Harry Potter dying (of course not—duh!) and also the earlier versions printed on the Internet beforehand, and if that wasn’t enough, the early reviews appearing before the July 21 release date, which supposedly infuriated Rowling. Many have responded with: tough luck. Rowling is a very rich woman. The USA Today article states, “Hallows is the book of the year because Rowling gave her story an ending that was as graceful, unpredictable and satisfying as the series itself.”Click here to read the full article.
