Anyone who reads this book can see its a thinly veiled judgment and attack on HST's life and lifestyle. Jann Wenner looks down his nose at Thompson's 'crazy' behavior, but this is the guy that canceled HST's life insurance as he was on his way to cover the Viet Nam War. Regardless, it is a skewed look at a brilliant writer's life from the perspective of a crotchety old man with a grudge.
