The NYT has said, “It is a brave author indeed who, without benefit of full hindsight or personal experience, proposes to write yet another nearly contemporaneous account of the most overexposed presidency of modern times.”
This proves to be quite a challenge for Sally Bedell Smith, the author of For Love of Politics: Bill and Hillary Clinton: The White House Years. With the upcoming Presidential race, people will not stop talking about, and nor will publishers stop publishing the books on Clinton and Clinton, for people still seem willing to buy them.
The NYT reviewer then goes on to note, “The biggest challenge confronting Sally Bedell Smith in “For Love of Politics” is Clinton fatigue. The next-biggest challenge is the scarcity of fresh source material. It seems that anyone who has ever had anything to do with the Clintons over the past three decades, with the possible exception of Socks the cat, has already written a tell-all or given a juicy interview.”
